The sports bar hosting the A TOUGH GAL MUAY THAI COMPETITION is a gritty, venue with a buzzing, rowdy crowd. Neon signs hang over the bar area, casting a colorful glow over the packed space. The centerpiece is a slightly worn but sturdy Muay Thai ring, with thick, vibrant ropes in alternating colors of red, blue, and yellow that pop against the dingy backdrop. The canvas has seen its share of battles, with scuffs and stains adding to the atmosphere. The energy is electric, and the air smells of sweat, beer, and anticipation as tough fighters step into the ring.
Valenzuela: I enter the bar in my muay thai fight gear, a black sports bra with my name on it, shorts with a colorful Mexican flag design, barefoot and eight oz gloves. Weighing in at 120 lbs, 5 ft 3 in tall, bouncing on my feet and shadow boxing my way to my corner
alexiaamauri: I enter the bar and head to the ring in my full black muay thai gear, weighing 172 lbs and 5'7 inches tall...I slide through the ropes and head for my corner, stretching my muscles
alexiaamauri:
Valenzuela: I swallow hard as I see the weight advantage that this younger Italian kickboxer has on me, but most people I fight are bigger. The ref calls us to ring centre to go over her instructions, then suggests to tap gloves so I extend mine, and step back to my corner to wait for the bell.
alexiaamauri: I meet you ring center for the instructions...towering you from my height and weight advantage. We touch gloves then I head quickly back to my corner, bouncing lightly as I wait for the bell
Valenzuela: Ding! I come out of my corner fast as the bell sounds, left foot and glove leading, elbows tucked in. I want to take control early, so I come straight at you, trying to send a left snap kick to your belly, hoping to bend you forward for a left and right hook combo at your jaws as I bring my foot back.
alexiaamauri: DINNG!!! I shuffle out of my corner in my orthodox fighting stance and as you come straight at me with your kick I take a step to my left and your foot just grazes my obliques while your hook combo lands on my forearms...uffff....ufff...and as you try to get your leg quickly back I use my longer reach to fire a solid left low kick with my shin to the side of your right knee, trying to make you lose balance as I dart in with a hard right uppercut towards your plexus
Valenzuela: My attempt at early aggression does not work, as you twist to avoid my kick and my hooks only hit your forearms. Your fast to counter with a low shin kick at my right knee, but I see the kick coming in time to raise my right leg and take the kick on my calf. The kick rotates my body to my left, so that the wicked right uppercut hits me in the upper arm, sparring my plexus. I'm not gonna back down, so I as my right leg comes back to the mat, I lunge forward and try a left knee strike at your navel, and then stay in the pocket to try and drive a left shovel hook up into your liver and a right straight towards your plexus.
alexiaamauri: You're good with your defence and try to be aggressive but I don't back up. You lunge forward with a left knee and once again I take a half step to my left lowering my right arm, getting both the knee and the hook on my forearm....UNGHHH...saving my liver and when you try your right I slide to my left, making you miss while i fire a vicious hard right knee towards your exposed liver, following up with a brutal left elbow hook to your jaw, over your extended right arm
Valenzuela: My knee and then my hook both get blocked by your movement and with your forearm, then as my right arm extends, you slide left, making me miss. You are now on my right side and slam a brutal right knee up into my wide open right flank, but the knee hits more my right side than my liver, making me wince from the pain, but you ain't finished as you swing a vicious left elbow over my extended right that crashes into my jaw, twisting my face. My vision blurs for a moment, and I need to step back quickly to reset my guard, knowing I badly lost in that exchange.
alexiaamauri: my knee doesn't hit your liver but my follow up elbow lands clean into your jaw making you step back trying to recover. But I mean to keep pressure as you're stepping back sending a fast heavy right teep kick with my heel targeting your navel, trying to send you back to the ropes or to the nearest corner
Valenzuela: My right side and jaw is hurting from your knee and elbow strike that landed without me being able to avoid, showing your very dangerous counter striking skills. I keep retreating, but you are on me fast, sending a teen kick towards my navel, but I twist left and the kick glances off my belly button. After my right twist, my right glove is leading so I lunge forward and try to send a double right through your guard towards your nose, and follow this with a left cross towards your temple, shooting high
alexiaamauri: You manage to defend well and UMPPFFFF...your first right lands, sending my head bit back. I quickly cover, getting your second right on my gloves and duck under your left, finding your left side open for a vicious counter in the form of a solid short right uppercut to your floating ribs, quickly shifting my weight to my rear left leg to send a brutal left elbow uppercut under your chin
Valenzuela: My right jab punches into your face, my first strike of the fight, but jabs are light punches and the second is blocked. You read me like a book and weave under my left cross, leaving my left flank open. I suddenly feel your right gloved fist slam solidly into my left floating ribs and pain radiates out. Again, nothing I could do to stop the blow, but my right glove comes up to block your brutal left elbow, and then in a panic, I try to pivot on my left foot to try and send a spinning back fist with my right towards where I hope the center of your face will be! Panic is setting in as I begin to realise I'm not only fighting a bigger opponent, but one that is very skilled in the arts of muay thai combat.
alexiaamauri: I can feel my right hitting your ribs hard but my elbow gets stopped by your right. you pivot on your left foot but it's a huge mistake as I duck under your right and with your right side completely open I fire a nasty left elbow hook to your liver area hoping to land clean this time as I take a small jump for a powerful right knee meant to land under your chin
Valenzuela: My swinging back fist just swings in the empty air space over your head, leaving me unbalanced and my right side wide open. As you are lower, you swing a nasty hooking left elbow into my liver, driving the point of your elbow under my rib cage and directly into my liver. At first I don't feel much, but a couple of seconds later the most excruciating pain radiates out of my left side, bending me forward. It stuns me, and then my eyes nearly bulge out of their sockets as you take a short leap up, driving your knee into my chin, snapping my head up. My entire small body is launched backwards, stumbling out of control, until my back hits the padded turnbuckle. I try to lean into it and lock my knees to stay on my feet, and bring my left glove up to cover my face, my right to cover my liver…the ref looking on concerned but does not stop the fight as I seem to be protecting myself.
alexiaamauri: My elbow hook hits your liver hard...pain showing on your face as you bend forward and then WHAMMM!!! my knee lands under your chin sending you stumbling into a corner...smelling blood I come forward and as your right covers your liver area I send a heavy left elbow hook towards your jaw to stun you as I try to drive my right knee into your navel
Valenzuela: My legs are trembling, barely keeping me upright, and the only thing stopping me from collapsing is the turnbuckle pressing against my back. I can hardly breathe—each shallow gasp feels like fire ripping through my ribs, and the pain from that brutal elbow to my liver is radiating through my whole body. Every breath I take sends a sharp, stabbing pain through my side, and I can feel my jaw throbbing from that knee strike. It feels like my head's spinning, my vision’s blurry, and no matter how much I blink, it won’t clear. Everything just feels...off. My left side screams in pain from the uppercut to my ribs, like my body is breaking down, piece by piece.
Valenzuela: I can’t believe this is happening. I’m being humiliated, dismantled, in such a short time. It’s terrifying. My body’s on the verge of collapse, I can feel it. The pain is overwhelming, and I’m gasping for air, but it’s like my lungs aren’t even working. My face—God, I can feel it—twisted in agony and fear, my mouth hanging open as I desperately try to breathe. My eyes are wide, flickering with panic, unable to focus. I try to raise my gloves, to do something, anything, but my arms feel like they weigh a ton. I’m so close to breaking...
Valenzuela: I see you coming, and panic floods my mind. My right hand stays glued to my liver, desperate to protect that tender spot, but my left side is wide open. You swing that heavy left elbow toward my jaw, and I try to duck, but I’m too slow, too worn down. The elbow connects, and my head snaps to the side, the impact ringing in my skull. Stars explode behind my eyes, and my knees buckle slightly. I stagger, barely catching myself against the ropes, my vision swimming.
Valenzuela: Before I can even process the pain, your knee is already driving up into my navel. The blow digs deep, knocking every last bit of air from my lungs. My eyes widen in shock as a sharp, unbearable pain shoots through my core. I double over, gasping, but no air is coming. I can’t breathe. My legs wobble, barely keeping me upright, but suddenly they go out on me, and I land face first on the canvass, curled up in a little ball moaning from the pain.
alexiaamauri: My elbow hammers your jaw....BAMMMM!! your knees buckle....you try to stand against the ropes and then my knee digs deep into your core doubling you over and suddenly you crash to the canvas face first...crowd on its feet as the ref sends me to the neutral corner and starts the count....1....2....3....4....
Valenzuela: The pain in my belly, my liver, my ribs, my jaw and brain is just too fucking intense. I hear the count, but I can't react, my body just won't move, 5....6....7....The Italian "Killer Doll" has just beaten the snot out of me, in what....about a minute and a half.....and I only landed a light jab on her...uuugggg.....tears stream down my face as I try to suck up the pain.....8......
alexiaamauri: 8...9...10...OUT!!! Ref waves the fight off...I climb the ropes and flex to the crowd after a devastating KO win ..then I come near you helping you on your feet "Is all OK??" I ask
Valenzuela: I can't believe it... how did I let it end like this? Just a minute and a half, and I'm already on the floor, beaten so badly. I came in confident, ready to fight, but the size, the power—it was just too much. Every hit felt like a hammer, and I couldn't keep up. My body gave out before I even had a chance. It’s humiliating. You come to me, and help me up, pain still coursing through my body....I accept your hand...."uggg....yeah....but you really busted me up good....but I'm ok....I think" gasping for breath....end or
alexiaamauri: (end)

Thanks, as always, much appreciated. In over my head, what an understatement.....Every punch I threw was just an opportunity for her to counter with a knee, elbow, or uppercut......my jaw and liver and floating ribs are still so sore!
