AddOn: Different Gladiators for 1vs1 Gladiatorial Melee

Hi everyone. “Flamae” and me had lots of fun with the Gladiatorial Melee rules. We went through a few test bouts and discussions in the recent days to generate different “sets” of gladiator types to put them against another. This blog post contains the results we are now using. The fights still use the mentioned basic rules set (see link below), with the following changes.

#!QUICK IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE TO ALL FIGHTERS
The chosen stat block (see below) will instead indicate if it is available or not, and if any other Action Commands or bonus rules are available during the fight.

BASIC ACTION COMMANDS any fighter may use:
!recover guard 1d6
!attack guard (60% success chance; deals 2d6 damage)
!attack hitpoints (60% success chance; deals 2d6 damage)

#DIFFERENT GLADIATORS HAVE DIFFERENT GUARD STATS
These have been based on armor, weapon & shield (if any) and of course with an eye to balancing them a little. So far, the fights have been fun. But at this moment we have of course not pitted each individual set against any other possible opponent yet. Should you find a certain pairing not to your taste, feel free to adjust them for your personal plays as you see fit and leave a comment ;).

#FURTHER ACTION COMMANDS
!quick >> 75% success chance (instead of 60%); 2d3 damage (instead of 2d6)
!hold >> 60% success, declares that opponent is trapped in a hold (here: used for net)
!escape >> 60% success, declares that fighter escaped a hold (here; to get out of net)

###Dimachaerus
Armament: two swords of different length; little to no armor

!set Guard 8/12

#Two Main Weapons: Bonus !attack if two !attack actions were used successfully in this turn.

###Gladiatrix or Thraex
Armament: gladius; sica or similar light/short sword; shield; little to no armor)

!set Guard 15/25

Agile: May use !quick for an attack

###Retiarius (Net & Trident)
Armament: net & trident; little to no armor

!set Guard 8/12

Agile: May use !quick for an attack

Net Throw: May use !hold as an action for a net throw. If successful, the opponent is trapped in the net. Trapped opponent may only use one action each turn plus an !escape action (at the end of the turn) till the !escape action was successful. Net throw is only possible once per combat (hit-or-miss).

###Scissor/ Samis/ Murmillo
Armament: Large shield and sword OR sword and second weapon /w heavy armguard. Always armored.

Guard: 18/25

Momentum: A failed !attack ends the own turn. Two successful attacks in the own turn grant an immediate bonus attack once per turn.

###Veles
Armament: 3 javelins; light shield; no or little armor

!set Guard 10/15

Spear fighting: may use !quick attacks

Javelin throw: may throw a Javelin as !attack up to two times in combat, but only when own Guard stat is 8+. A javelin throw is a direct !attack against hitpoints (regardless of the opponent´s guard stat)
