I always say to match your partner's prespective, but my own preference is towards 1st person.
See in third person, it feels like you're the narrator of a story, you're not 'playing' a character, you're describing one.
To me that's story telling, not role playing.
But first person is the opposite, I'm putting myself in the shoes of that character, I'm playing as them
So whilst I do enjoy story telling, I'm here mainly to roleplay and to do that, I play in 1st person
When I RP nowadays I typically default to third person. I’m playing a character, I feel awkward writing like it’s my experiences. Though if my scene partner is going first person, I’ll typically match perspective with them.
Personally I think it's good to have both 3rd and 1st person in your locker as they're are good things about both styles. I flick between the too just keep practised in both ways of playing.
First can be great for narrating the story as the character see's it, with her thoughts and in her words and turns of phrase.
Third person lends itself better to painting visuals for your partner and it's much easier to "pull the camera back" at times and narrate more broadly.
Everyone will have their preferences but I think both ways of playing are fine.
I've been always a 3rd person RP'er. And when I posted mt rp'ing I always got in the dramatic mindset of 300 narrator for example to describe my character's actiobs. But as I started to fight here noticed everyone goes for first person and I decided to give it a go and started to enjoy this kind of narration as I can make my character express her thouguts during the battle, while using ALL CAPS to describe intense anger, enhance the violence of certains attacks and such.Nowadays, I can go both ways but I'm having a strong preference to 1st person.
I started with 3rd person and found that it works well, especially as I moved into more story writing. I agree with shadyfighter that 3rd person also works better when managing more than one character e.g. in a three-way or a tag team match.
First-person is my preference when RPing with someone with whom I have good chemistry.
First person is my go-to writing style, just because it's what I'm used to.
That said, I'm not too picky about that kind of thing, so long as responses are descriptive.
Typically, I mimic the style of whoever I'm rp'ing with; 9 times out of 10 that's first-person
In almost every case, I use first person for myself and second person for my partner (i.e., “you”). Third person can be OK for setup posts before the two characters have met face to face, but after that point, put it away. I’ve had people refer to me in third person in the middle of a fight, and honestly, it feels dehumanizing. I consider it a red flag in most cases, with the exception being if the other person is not fluent in English (and maybe 3rd person is just easier for them).
That’s my preference. I’m not saying that there aren’t potentially scenarios that might call for using third person, but for 1-on-1 role play, first (and second) person POV is the most immersive and respectful way to write with a partner, IMHO.
I prefer first person too, it does roleplaying looks more real. Interpretation of character works better and it's even more easy to write.
I only use 3rd person if I play using 2 or more characters into the game.

First person is best to get the full connection of mind and body and what you’re feeling during the match. Your real life experience.
When I roleplay, I like to imagine myself in the situation, so I always use first person and want my opponents/writing partners to do the same. Third person seems detached and "cold", and it just doesn't work for me. That said, I am not advocating for people who have been RPing in third person to stop doing that. What's a drawback for me might be the advantage for them. I could imagine that if the RP is about something you're not yet fully comfortable with, it would be easier to write about someone else doing these things.
I am still rather new to cyber fights. I've done a few, most of which are in third person. I am not sure which one I should go for during a fight. Are there any pros and cons to those points of views? Should I favor one over another? What do you suggest I go for?

NICE!! I've been noticing the shift in 1st person in your writing...it added a new layer of quality to it.
Keep it up beefcake!
