Reviving this thread after a few months. I have had this happen to me on my other characters recently and I have noticed an additional behavioral pattern. The guy contacts me on chat. He seems to have a pretty definite idea of what he wants. When I reply affirmatively with some minor alterations to his idea that would make it fun for me, instead of saying he doesn't like my suggestions, he continues onward as if I never said anything. The failure of the other guy to engage is an early warning sign that he is likely to flake on you. I find that the best experiences on here are composed of two (or more) persons who not only want to have fun for themselves, but for the others also. If I don't get that feeling from a new interlocutor, I have learned to politely disengage myself.
Had this happen to me last night. Literally set up with the guy. Stakes, traded pics, set the Eden’s, etc. Then…he went offline. Cool. It happens. But after about 5 minutes he didn’t come back. I try to reply but it kept saying “error”. Turns out he deleted his profile. What the hell??! Why waste my time?! :(
I can't say what happened in your case, but given the nature of the site and what many use it for, a new character might find that talking about a scenario gives him/her enough arousal that having to actually play it out becomes unnecessary. Since it is a new character with no real history on here, there is nothing to lose by deleting it and creating another. The person behind the character often only thinks of his wants and desires. After all, to him/her you are even less real than the character that has just been deep-sixthed. I know it sucks and I am not defending or condoning it. I am just offering what I feel is a not unusual explanation for this phenomonon.
Thank you, law abiding beagle. You really are man’s best friend.
But seriously, thanks! I get what you’re saying. It sucks, but it does help explain a bit

I have had all of these happen to me and not only is a weird thing to do but to ignore a welcome greating is just rude. I even had one new character ask for a match. He made his entrance and then deleted his profile. I have also had one guy make a prrofile based on my profile when I was sick in a coma and he copied and pasted my own moves. As soon as I cam back and had lost most of my friends because of him I had him banned and took over his profile and gave it to a freind who has since leftanyway as CF didn't suit him. There are some strange ones out there.
Cheers from Jason ⭐
I have not experienced that on much here but have had folks create and delete their profiles on a different social site.
Guess some folks just not sure what they are looking for. I have experienced reaching out to new comers and not gotten a response back. Courtesy is just lost in so many aspects of life any more.
But that should not change you and your generous personality!
You are so right Seangrapple specially your last line.
Cheers from Jason.

Holy crap. This literally just happened to me. Had a seemingly great match/scene with a coach/daddy type character. We hit it off and decided to pause since irl stuff happens. Agreed to meet up around 3:30/4. Got on chat. It’s deleted. I looked at messages…turns out he deleted his profile without notice!
I agree with everyone's posts regarding the frustrating behaviors discussed in this thread. But, there is no effective way to deter these behaviors. I used to look to see the new characters, and if they seemed interesting, welcomed them to the site. If they replied positively, I would discuss a possible match. The results were very often those exhibited here. Hence, I have stopped looking aat the new characters section. I do not start a conversation in chat with anyone whose character is less than thirty days old, does not have an introduction written in their profile, does not have indications in their profile indicating what kinds of matches they are into, and do not have at least two defeats or victories posted in the relationships, or one match story posted. These actions have reduced the frustrations from the behaviors contained herein.
ALMOST as annoying is when one drops a line to a new comer welcoming them, only to have their welcome ignored. Then one sees the same person in chat, tries to strike up a conversation with then, and is again ignored. RUDE - RUDE- RUDE!!!
Not sure where to put this but I’ve noticed some characters create a cool character only to delete it in a matter of hours to a matter of days. Is this common? Have other people noticed this?
My guess is that people sometimes create a character that they believe will attract a certain type of opponent. Unfortunately, instead of allowing the initial rush of random replies to subside, they conclude that the character will not attract the type of person they desire. Hence, they delete the character and make a new one that they hope will attract the desired people. This may be one reason for the phenomenon.

Very thoughtful words but bottom line is it’s very inconsiderate.

It is indeed. As I said I am only offering an explanation for the behavior, not a defense of it.

Oh GP. Sorry you were so I’ll. Glad your back! It’s a royal pain when your profile get hijacked. Happy it all worked out in the end
