There are only two ways that I know of that would alter the primary character. The first is the method I used, I created a separate account and replicated my Queen of Lust Persona as the primary character, preserved all of my stories on the previous account and added my new account to them to ensure as much carried across as possible. The issue is that it would still be a new character and not everything can be saved. In addition, I had no further need of the old account, so creating a new one was no issue, whereas needing to handle more than one actively may be an issue for some.
The second option would be to entirely change the primary character through the edit feature, the name, age, images, all aspects and details reflecting the character you wish to be the primary, and edit the formerly primary character onto the other. Again, this one does contain issues in that not everything can be carried over, and I feel it would be a lot of work for such a goal. I can understand that this would not sound ideal
I do believe this was addressed already some weeks ago. But for now you can't select which character is your primary as the primary character is attached to your login credentials (or something like that).

I'm not 100 percent sure but I think if you delete your primary character, they all get deleted
