A Temporary Truce Has been Declared for now it Seems
Y'all, the chat is down from the admin side. Your favourites are stuck to the time when the site fell down. If/when it changes will likely be the indication that the chat is fixed.
As it stands, the chat is down , and due to timezones, will likely be fixed in a few hours . I'm estimating 3 to 4 hours from now, which will be around 2 AM EST
Well just check again. And no different results. Glad I rp on discord and such as well

I see a lot of my favorites online, but I also know they're all having chat issues, and an inability to join. It may be that the chat is stuck in some sorta limbo, and it says that people are online, when they aren't. Could be that they're trying to load in.
I have a theory that the site is merely showing favourites who were online at the time the site began experiencing issues and may be frozen. I see at least a few who would normally not be online at this time
I also notice it never changes. Perhaps the key is to simply refresh the front page and see if the online favourites alter, that may be the signal to the chat working again
Aha! Excellent information, Maxine! At least now I know it’s not just a handful of us! It might be a good idea for the Techs should put up a post about it, though.

I'm assuming the servers are down. The site was down for an hour or two, I'm guessing there are repairs being made to the chat to get it back up! Just some patience, it'll be up again. Unsure when, though!
I'm not sure if there is a max number of users, but I know I've seen over 200 characters online in Chat on a number of occasions. It's probably an update or maintenance.

I recommended my GF on freecatfights.com to join Chatfighters and she did but she says she can not get access into the chat areas on Chatfighters. And from what I read it is not the first time others experienced this . It can be a real turn off for new comers that experience this hopefully this problem can be fixed and not cause chatfighters to lose newcomers as well as established members of chatfighters experiencing this as well . My friends name is Annabrat here on chatfighters .

I suspect the search feature is looking at an old, invalid cache. I wouldn't give much weight to the data you're seeing.
