Some thoughts on improvements

Hi! Just found out about this place and so far it looks awesome, just like what I was thinking about making some time ago myself.

I do have a couple questions and\or suggestions though.

1. What was the reasoning behind choosing the version of... is it even Markdown? For formatting posts? Wouldn't it be better if it was the regular markdown? Or mostly regular markdown? The cons I see in it are that people need to basically learn and remember new syntax. When everywhere else (Every mainstream chat app like Discord, Slack even WhatsApp and Skype) to make text bold you need to surround it in double starts, here it's triple quotes. And it's like this for basically everything.

And second problem with this is - conversion. I have my profiles on other place in BBCode and Markdown. There are all sorts of converters that allow t oconvert between Markdown, HTML, BBCode and such, but I can't use them for this website. Sad noises

2. It would be awesome to have a one-click button, maybe in the right-click menu, to download chat log. I like to store and keep logs of RPs to re-read them later, and the fact that ChatFighters offers a system to turn logs into Stories is just A-Awesome, words can't express how cool this is, and how astonished I am about the fact that it's something I also thought about, and here it is, implemented! :D

But I like to store logs locally, for safe keeping. It also allows me to run text-search on them to search for stuff I'd like to re-read easily.

If you were to add this feature it would be nice if it had a header with name of the room, list of participating characters and datetime. And then chat logs. Simple txt or html format.

3. Chat input window. Maybe I missed something, but so far it looks like just 1 line text input window. Can't it be textarea? Bigger box? It will make writing longer posts so much easier. Even if you have some technical limtations that dont allow breaking lines in single post. Without it I have to restor to writing in another text editor and copy pasting.

This may also lead to making so people lean more towards shorter posts. Which is fine! But for those of us who prefer longer posts it's a disaster. And longer posts make for better Stories and Books ;)

4. Notification sound. It's so faint! I keep missing it. If I minimize the window and go do other things, like watch youtube or listen to music or whatnot, I wont hear it. And I actually like that it can be this faint 'boop' sound, it's non intrusive and can be kind of ... stealthy if you know what I mean... but for me I'd prefer if it were louder and longer and more noticable. So maybe there could be an option to select one of a few different sounds? Or even upload your own notification sound?

I think that's it for now. Don't get me wrong, I love this website so far! But these are my thoughts about what I miss or what could make it better. At least for me.

Regarding the #3 suggestion to the original post. Because I often type multiples lines in that chat (private message) dialog box, the typed dialog will scroll up out of view. On multiple occasions when I use the up and down arrow keys to scroll for typing errors, I have either had the current message reply I'm trying to edit, totally erased and my prior reply inserted instead. OR on at least one occasion, the open tab of another private conversation immediately adjacent to the current conversation I'm working on, has that text inserted into the dialog box i'm trying to edit.

In either scenario, what I have typed is totally erased and I have to re-type the reply a second time. Not only is it frustrating and time consuming, it makes me hesitant to try and clean up any typing mistakes. Any improvements/suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I really wish this forum had like a thumbs up button to show simple agreement with a point made. What you said was spot on.
