TALA 'THE SHOOTING STAR' DELA CRUZ

Tala was born in the impoverished municipality of Saiyan in the province of Zamboanga del Norte. Growing up on her families modest corn farm in crushing poverty Tala's early life was desperate and competitive. With resources scarce and everyone around her willing to take anything they could from her she first learned that she had to defend what was hers and then that even the most destitute still craved entertainment. She began to fight to support herself and her family in shoddy rings in the rolling hills of the countryside to stages ostensibly built for local performers given over to merciless brawls for the local drunks to bet on. Eventually catching the eye of a promoter from Dipolog who eagerly invited the unorthodox fighter to join an upcoming tournament in the provinces capital with three times her families annual income in the pot for the winner. She accepted and after a life of poverty and fighting to survive managed to overwhelm the well off competition that viewed the contest as a sport and not a means for survival putting down every other woman on her path to victory until she was standing triumphant in the ring hailed by the crowd as a rising star in the fighting world of the Philippines and earning her epithet of "Shooting Star" because she was surely destined to reach the top.

From there she was scouted by several promotions for exhibitions and tournaments as well as coaches eager to refine the vicious and unorthodox but untrained fighter into a perfect balance of fury of technique expanding her tool box from punches, kicks, basic wrestling and dirty blows to join locks, wrestling holds, power moves and targeted strikes to work her opponent sensitive targets like kidneys, ovaries, liver, womb through their abdomen learning to break a girl down piece by piece instead of simply overwhelming her by savagery. While not undefeatable and eating more than her fair share of defeat Tala has managed to work her way up the rankings all the way to Manila the cosmopolitan capital of the north where victory in the Baddie Beatdown Mixed Style Tournament has earned her international attention and offers to fight beyond the Philipines. Something Tala is more than interested in to bring wealth back to her family and barangay.
