Yeah, the series "A Song of Fire and Ice" and it's first book, "A Game of Thrones" came out in August 1996. I was born on November 15th, 1996. My mother read it while pregnant with me and was enamoured by the name, "Khalessi", "Mother of Dragons" hence she named me. Most people didn't even know what it meant until I was a freshman in high school and the show came out in 2011 when I was 14.

No, I haven't read the books. No, I haven't watched the series. I think I've gotten enough about it from people telling me things based solely on my name. Maybe I will one day but if I do it's because I want to, not because my mother named me after a character from the series.

I was born on the Island of Hispaniola in the city of Santiago in the Dominican Republic, my father was a U.S. Ex-Pat, my mom was a light-skinned latina woman who my father pined for (so I'm told). I got my U.S. citizenship through my dad, my mom got a green-card and in 2004, when I was about 7 or 8 years old, several disasters (Hurricanes and Earthquakes) hit Hispaniola repeatedly, so my dad moved the whole family to Texas where he's originally from. When we moved, I was strongly discouraged from speaking Spanish in public so the language has more or less faded over time, but I still know a few bits and pieces here and there. Apparently, something to do with being confused for a Mexican.

When I was in high school all the girls around me were falling for guys but I preferred my friends. I thought I was just a late bloomer but then I realized I had a crush on my friend's older sister who was in college and that's how I found out I was a lez. I don't hate guys, I don't even dislike them but I'm just not sexually or romantically interested in them.
