Three time NCAA Division I All-American trying his hand at pro-style!
Body type: Normal
Gear: Black Iowa style singlet or blue USA wrestling singlet, black wrestling shoes.
Introduction
Thomas Gilman (born May 28, 1994) is an American freestyle wrestler known for his relentless pace and gritty, aggressive style on the mat. A three-time NCAA All-American at the University of Iowa, Gilman transitioned into the international scene where he became a World silver medalist in 2017 and later secured a bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the 57 kg category. Competing for the United States, he has been a staple in international wrestling for nearly a decade, earning respect for his toughness, intensity, and skill.
With his fiery personality and scrappy underdog appeal, Thomas Gilman could be an intriguing fit for the world of professional wrestling. His natural intensity, coupled with his Iowa wrestling pedigree, makes him believable as both a technical wrestler and a fierce competitor inside the squared circle. If he were to try out pro-wrestling, Gilman could carve out a niche as a tenacious “pitbull” style character, bringing legitimate grappling skills to a performance-driven stage. Much like past amateur standouts who made the leap, his background would give him instant credibility with fans, and his brash confidence could easily translate into a marketable persona.
Personal preferences:
As a legit martial artist and wrestler IRL, I am equally as comfortable with intense mat based grappling exchanges as I am with big WWE-style spectacles. I don’t typically do sexfights. I love promos and trash talk. Gilman’s always had a chip on his shoulder even since high school (check out the FloWrestling doc) so I think he’d be the perfect fit for pro-style. But if you want a submission or freestyle match? I’m happy to oblige.
