Limiting tags?!

I would have a few questions, mainly to avoid having the same discussion in a few weeks again to bump the limit from 20 -> 25.
The original number (12) that was chosen based on a Database query, including the "average," "median," and "gut feeling" and got a few days already increased to 15.

Question 1, if more tags are getting added in the future, would you then want more the 20?
Question 2, if I remove some tags, would 15 be enough?
Question 3, What about the idea of creating another character? One who has all 'torture' tags, and another who is more back and forward action?

1) Obviously if more tags are added, more choices are available and so more tags should be selected.
2) Removing the ones that can be put somewhere else, makes the choice simpler but it should still be at least 20.
3) There are FAR TOO MANY characters already for each member, many used once a month, others not used at all since last summer or autumn (those should be deleted automatically). If everyone makes a character for each fetish or interest, there would be 10.000, most never used, and it'd be only chaos.

This is turning into a "feelings based" thing this way.

"I feel that i need more tags"
"I feel that there are too many characters"


Well, opposite those feelings, there is data, as stated here the number of 15 tags is based on the average and median number of tags used by the whole of the users on this site. Which means that the majority of the users do not use even the original limit of 12!

Other data that is available, is the number of characters in relation to factual user accounts. Also available here, where the outcome was that : "On average, one account has 1.7 Characters."
Also mentioned there, is that there are on the whole site, 30 accounts that have more then 15 characters.


So when we look at those numbers rationally, there really is no problem with the number of characters for each member, and the majority of the users also do not reach the tag limits.

And now comes the fun part, for which i'll get the not nice replies:
You're perfectly fine with limiting that small group of 30 people to 15 characters because it feels "good" to you that they are limited.
But when you as part of equally small or even smaller small group, gets limited to 15 tags for the good of all users and to trim excesses, its suddenly "bad"?

It does not work that way.

And on a personal note - Also do realise that all time that the site's admins and the tech have to spend answering the same reoccuring demands, is time that they can not spend on extending the sites functionality, or resolve actual bugs/problems that impact all users. After all it is a free site, and the time they invest, is private time...

I think it's worth listening to why there's some limits to the tag system. The tags are there to index profiles of players that are passionate about those mentioned details. We conducted cyber for decades without tags and profiles. We got good at a concise description of what we liked and we posted our matches to let readers know what we're into, or we didn't get matches.

"If you compare it to food, currently, keywords are used to let people know what kind of food you like. But the intention was to find out what your favorite food is. Food that tastes like everything actually tastes like nothing." Tech's words. I see so many player put nothing at all in their description section and barely finish their stats. If you don't have a tag for your favorites, say it in your profile. I read profiles, they are like foreplay. A well done profile gets me absolutely ready for a match.

I also hear many complaining but making no suggestions with reasons backing those suggestions up. And BTW "please" goes a long way, even in France. If you'd like Tech to change it, try saying to what, and why your experience here would be better if it were different. BearhugFight did that in his opener.

I found I had to draw back some of mine. But I found some of them conflate into others. For example I don't mind action with broken bones, blood, torture, BDSM, CBT and that. But in my case that all conflates to "extreme violence." That took up 6 tags for me. If you're a player that likes CBT but NOT those other things, being specific is important. Search tags are meant to intentionally narrow your search field.

I think many of us need to put in 20 and looking at the field it looks like we fetch up around there on average. Obviously all 60 is right out. And any limit is going to make cramps for someone. I respectfully ask if 20 could be tried and see if that fits your need for some order. Please respond as time allows. [Jack]

Agree with the request of 20 tags, as I asked before. It's less than half of the available choices (more than 60!) and some could be deleted altogether, like "naked" that can be put under the gears description, or the ones Jack mentioned above, all about the same choice.
I don't really agree about the description issue, I like them too but when looking for someone with the same interests, tags are essential and a timesaver... we can't read every single profile can we?
So please change the setting to 20 choices, thanks.

What kind of explanation is THAT?
I also wrote that many people abuse the tag system but going from using ALL to using less than 50% is senseless! Don't we have enough restrictions in our everyday life right now???
If you offer more than 60 choices than you have to leave people free to choose AT LEAST 20, and that's what we are REALLY into...
Going from 12 to 15 doesn't change anything...

15 tags seems more reasonable.

The new limit of 12 tags for characters and stories is crazy!
There are more then 60 tags to choose from, at least we should be able to select 20, otherwise what's the point in having them?
Choosing ALL tags (like far too many people do) should be avoided because it's confusing and pointless, but 12 are TOO FEW if we want to make the others know what we're looking for.
PLEASE change that setting up to AT LEAST 20 tags, not even half of the ones available, it's the ONLY way to quickly understand each other's fetishes and interests. Thanks!!

Yeah, I sort of agree with this. Feel 12 tags isn't enough.
