• Title: Black space above the virtual keyboard in chat
• Bug ID: 1866
• Status: Closed
• Date Reported: June 9, 2024

Affected Systems:

• Mobile devices running Android using Firefox.
• Tested versions at the time of writing: Android 14 Firefox 127.0.2

Unaffected Systems:

• Android devices using Chrome or Opera.
• All iOS browsers, including iOS with Firefox.
• All desktop and laptop devices, including Windows, Linux, and MacOS with Firefox.

Unknown System:

• ChromeOS using Firefox.

Behavior:

• Description: Users may experience a glitch in the chat application. A sizeable black space appears between the keyboard and the text input field, occupying over one-third of the available screen space.

1. Open the chat application on an Android device using Firefox.
2. Engage the keyboard by tapping on the text input field.
3. Observe the black space between the keyboard and the text input field.

Impact:

• The glitch reduces the usable screen space for typing and viewing messages, leading to a suboptimal user experience.

Workaround:

• Users can avoid this issue by switching to Google Chrome or Opera on Android devices.

Bugfix:

• Currently, no fix is available.
• The issue is classified and communicated as a known bug and closed.

Next Steps:

• We are awaiting updates and a potential fix from Firefox for Android. We will monitor and provide updates as they become available.

Video embedding in the story is now working with all common video files.

• To host a video, you can upload it to any federation under the file tab (max. 15mb) and then copy the link into your story.
• For larger videos, you can choose an online video or file hoster, which allows you to access the video URL directly.

Change the limit for maximum character length per chat message from 1000 characters to 2000 characters.

Updated the blocking system:

• Fixed a bug related to blocking in chat.
• Blocks now extend to main site messages.
• Adjusted how characters and accounts are managed during blocking.

Can you explain how the blocking system works currently? Somebody keeps contacting me through different characters. If i ignore this person, they make simply make another. It makes using this site a really bad experience. The way i deal with this now, is simply not speaking to anyone from a certain timezone..

What do you mean by "If I _ignore_ this person."
Why are you not blocking this person? Or did you mean that?
Blocking works on account level, including all current and future characters.

If you still have issues, please open a ticket. This change log topic is not meant to be used for longer back-and-forth communication or technical support.

Based on Feedback from Mars (The Discord Image Link Situation) we removed the limits on how stories can be edited after the initial 7 days or if they are part of a federation.

• You can now edit all your stories
  • You must be the author of the story.
  • You must access the story directly under mars.chatfighters.com/story/12345
    • mars.chatfighters.com/federations/YourFederation/story/12345 will not provide you the edit button
  • Any other restrictions are lifted
  • Stories with more than one character must be approved again by everyone involved after the edit
  • If the 2nd character is a deleted character, you should remove him from the story. (as he won't be able to approve the changes)

I have a question. All chat history and recent activity has disappeared.

Major update to our chat's video and audio system. With this update, you can look forward to improved reliability and performance during video calls. Additionally, we've added the option to disable video, allowing you to have audio-only calls if you prefer.

• For all:
  • Newly uploaded pictures are now rendered in twice the size, at 1600px instead of 800px.

• For donating members
  • The per-picture size limit for donating members has been increased to 50mb for both pictures and GIFs, which is over 10 times the previous limit of 5mb per picture for non-donating members. (over 120GB of storage)
  • We've added support for .gif and .apng files as upload type

With the new size and file type limits, you can upload high-quality images and animations without worrying about hitting any restrictions.

I would like to suggest a command "!sacrifice" or "!deplete", which should be the opposite of "!recover" and thereby a way to (auto-successfully) reduce one of the own(!) stats. UNLESS of course implementing something like this would be to much effort.

Why I ask: I use stat bars in fights for things like "Defense" or "Guard" instead of just using it as a "Health bar" (in general or for a body type). With a "!sacrifice" command, one could generate rules that would allow to e.g. sacrifice some of the own "Defense" or "Position" to gain an extra attack.

In Super-Heroe like dice-fights, one could write rules working with a "power bar" or "Energy bar"(deplete/sacrifice points from the stat to activate super powers).

Hey Karla, you can do this using the !damage command by pointing it at yourself. So, if you have a Defense bar, you can do:

!damage @[your name] Defense

and it will roll 2d6 (2 dice, 6 sides each) against Defense. If you want a different damage amount, you can do something like:

!damage @[your name] Defense 3d5+8

where it'll roll 3d5 instead of 2d6, and add 8 to the roll. You can also subtract by using "-" instead of "+"

And when you type the "@" symbol, it'll automatically pop up a list of the players in the room, so you can just pick the target (including yourself).

...but still, with a longer chat name a function that is the reverse of "!recover" would still be appreciated. ;) Unless of course, it is complicate to do it and/or I am likely to be the only one interested in it.

You receive a notification if someone replies to your comment on a story. - Regardless of whether you are part of the initial story.

Bugfix:

• secondary characters show the correct 'Last login' date on their profile page when joining the chat.

• ''under constructions accounts' (new accounts without completed profile) can no longer join the chat.
  • They can still read stories and bypass trigger warnings.
• 'Is typing...' is now visible on the chat tab as well
• You are now able to favorite offline members in the chat.

Hi, I'd like to ask if it's possible to add "Face" as one of the character's primary roles. A Face is a heroic, "good guy" or "fan favorite" wrestler, booked (scripted) by the promotion to be cheered by fans. I recently found out this is an option instead of being a Jobber or a Heel and I wondered if it could be added to the site system.

Completely agree. Face and jobber are not the same thing. Some guys on here genuinely love to lose and get beat up. That's a "Jobber." Other's usually play a good guy, beloved by the fans, but a competitive wrestler, who wins more than he loses. That's a "Face."

I'm in full agreement with this recommendation because I too am a "Face", but I'm not a "jobber".

Changed:

• latest stories are now sorted by the initial publishing date, not the creation date.
• The New Stories section on You-Turn shows the main character too (and uses the new sorting above)
• The dice default behavior changed to 40/60 percent, resulting in a higher success rate of each dice throw.

You turn update 2:

• added more yt variations: YT, Yt, .YT, .Yt, .yt
• yt which are older than 1h are ignored (this will prevent tabs flashing orange when reentering a room or private conversation)

Your turn (yt) update:
If your line ends with "yt" the chat will replace it with a message indicating the turn switch.

• The chat tab will be orange when it is yt
• Normal conversations will still be indicated in blue

The chat indicates now if someone else "...is typing"

• It is enabled for all rooms and private messages.
• It is not enabled for the #lobby

Hi! Not sure if its on the whole site or just me but when a person is typing in a chat with that indicator showing, the scroll up doesn't work. The moment the person stops typing, i can scroll up and down normally. Sometimes clicking on the bar moves it up and down and it usually works with the mouse wheel.

This feature is pretty cool but there's a small bug in it. When you press on someone to private message him, and start typing out, your name appears on their chatting tab without anything being sent

  • Other characters in the story must accept the changes to be published again.
• Stories can now be deleted from the story owner.
  • Please contact the story owner to remove your character from a story. Or to get the story removed.
  • @StoryOwner: Please respect the wishes of other characters.
  • @StoryCharacter: If you can't find an agreement with the StoryOwner, you can contact site support to get your data removed. Please provide evidence that the StoryOwner ignored your request.

If you tried to create a Federation Tournament in the past few days, you might have experienced a bug that the tournament was not visible.

• This bug is fixed now.

One small thing I've noticed is that in chat, when a person is offline, the message says "XXXX is currently offline and will not receive your messages until 'he' is connected to chat again." It doesn't differentiate he from she.

Today's update includes new dice commands for the chat, created in cooperation with Female Dice Fighters federations
A new PLEASURE bar is introduced which will increase instead of decrease with some of the new commands.

New Site Update - Site News #7

• New Feature: Federation owners can now send a message to every member of their Federation. Owners are limited to one such mass message per every 24 hours.
• New Feature: Federation Daily Digests are now sent to you, well, daily. It contains everything you need to keep yourself up to date with what is going in in your Federations: a list of active forums, new stories, photos and more. And, if you really hate Daily Digests, you can just turn them off by visiting the "Settings" tab of your Federations.

And, as usual, today's update comes with some behind-the-scenes improvements and tweaks to keep the site working as well^* as our community deserves.

^* Actual deserving to site quality ratio is subject of debate.

As Federation Admin go to the Federation Admin page and click on 'Send a message to all members'

Have to agree with all the other comments, the new font is awful, too small or too big, and I don't mean just in chat but everywhere! Besides, the whole site is squashed in the middle now with broad empy sides on a pc screen. Not everyone use it on cellphones you know?

I understand adding new features (like federations, adding pics etc) but the look of the site was fine as it was, let's keep it that way please!!!

Hi. I have to agree about the new font, specifically its size.
It affects the main site and chat.
When I use it on my phone it's even worse since you see a lot less per screen.

Haven't tested yet the other new features.

The new font type looks terrible! Medium size is too bold and if you lower the size its too small to read but its still bold! Not to mention larger fonts! In chat if you decide to go with bold font, all it does is just make it brighter and that is all.
The design is great and the new features but the font is just bad for my taste.
The new updates to the site are pretty cool and its appreciated the work you put into all of this, but this is just doesn't make sense.

You might have a browser zoom active on CF and want to reset it again.
The new font is not bold. You can see this when you actually make the chat line bold.

Yeah Im going to have to say this update makes the website look bad and hurt my eyes everything is too whit and turning it down is too tiny, and turning it to anything else is too bold and ugly. I will also say I have no browser zoom on either. This site is great youve put a lot of effort into it but right now im sorry but it looks pretty guly and unfortunately comes across to me at least as badly designed Just my honest opinion on that and im sorry for having to say it

It is not active at all. And the chat size is set to medium. If set to small its too small. The problem is in chat itself and not the reset of the site. Letters are brighter a lot and thicker.
And not sure about others, but i know at least 3 examples where the whole site crashes if you try to enter preferences on phone...

Amazing Tech I wanna suggest 2 things:
- First the icon maybe can be more specific or visually like a sun or a moon.
-Second, maybe the time zone can be displayed on the personal message of chat like a option to see directly and no go to profile and that.

  • !recover = it will heal your HP bar. (alias: !heal) Example:
    • !recover Possible outcome:

  • Recover will on default always heal yourself.

  • Redesign of the stories page
  • If one of your Favourites is part of a story, you receive a notification now.
  • Stories have now an 'owner' who can edit the story.
    • (the creator of the story is automatically the owner)
    • the owner can edit a story up to 7 days after creation.
      • This will send a notification to all characters part of the story, who have to (re)approve the edit.
    • adding and removing character can be done to for the first 7 days (even your own characters as long as one of your character is part of the story)
    • After 7 days you and any other character can still unpublish an story (make it private)
    • All characters in the story receive a notification if:
      • You are added to / removed from a story.
      • someone comments on your stories.
      • Someone approves the story.
      • Someone changes the publish/do not publish state of the story.
      • A story is deleted
    • Deleting a story:
      • Stories with other characters can be deleted by the creator as long as the story is editable (1 week).
      • Stories can also be deleted by the creator at any time provided that there are no other characters (except your own) in the story.
      • After 1 week a story with multiple characters can only be unpublished but not deleted. (open a support ticket if you want the story have removed)
• Additional Notification update:
  • If you're in the chat, and one of your other characters receives a Message you will get notified in the chat too. The link will then allow you to switch characters to read your new message.
• The new notifications can be disabled in the settings

• Load transcript under creating a story can now load from our mail message system too.
  • To create a story for those who don't use the chat so much.

• In stories with timestamps you have now the option to hide the timestamps "toggle times" button.

• Chat room update:
  • New room type 'Ring'
    • Ring rooms keep their history permanent, they don't expire or lose history.

Hi Tech, One improvement suggestion: in a private room, the other party has to be in Chat in order to invite them. It would be nice if you could extend the invitation even if they are not in Chat.....Anna

Can anyone set up a ring room? How do you designate a room as a ring room? This is becoming a really great site! Well done.

You can't set up a 'Ring' room, they are default site rooms.
But I'm happy to rename them.

Why you need a ring room and not a normal room?
